In July 2013 the Free and Agricultural Universities launched their first ever Field Practicum, which is mandatory class for all freshmen. The class envisages a 10 day trip to protected areas of Georgia, where students get involved in various activities, which aim at (1) protecting wildlife and (2) supporting a local office of the Agency of Protected Areas in developing tourist tracks and monitoring of the area. Coordinators assess work done by students.
The goal of the class is to engage students in service-learning process. They are encouraged to (a) develop team-work skills and (b) learn to overcome difficulties.
