Chronicles from Bucharest: Barbare Kurtsikidze’s Journey in Veterinary Surgery
19 April 2026
Barbare Kurtsikidze is currently in Bucharest, participating in the internationally accredited Soft Tissue Surgery program of the European School of Advanced Veterinary Studies (ESAVS). She is the first veterinarian from Georgia to undergo training within the ESAVS surgical program.
Veterinarium is the only clinic in Georgia that funds its employees’ training through programs offered by this international, high-quality veterinary school, which we are especially proud of.
The ESAVS Certificate and Master’s programs provide cutting-edge education in clinical veterinary disciplines. Training is based on intensive theoretical and practical sessions, assessments, and a problem-oriented clinical approach. These programs are delivered in collaboration with leading universities and clinics across approximately 20 countries in Europe.
ESAVS programs are accredited by the ATF (Akademie für tierärztliche Fortbildung), which operates under the Federal Chamber of Veterinarians of Germany (Bundestierärztekammer - BTK). This accreditation aligns with the requirements of the Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE, USA), the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS, UK), and the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI).
