Gold-Standard TPLO and Exemplary Anesthesia Care at Veterinarium: A Success Story with Momo

We are excited to share an update on our patient, Momo, a Cane Corso who recently underwent a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) at Veterinarium. Momo was diagnosed with a partial cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) rupture, a prevalent orthopedic issue in dogs. As a result, Momo exhibited grade IV lameness.

Several months ago, Momo received TPLO surgery, widely recognized as the gold standard and one of the most advanced and effective treatments for cranial cruciate ligament injuries in canines. This technique demonstrates an impressive 90-95% long-term success rate, consistently restoring full mobility and significantly enhancing a dog's quality of life.

We are thrilled to report that Momo's rehabilitation is progressing exceptionally well, with remarkable improvements in both mobility and comfort during daily activities.

The complex TPLO procedure was skillfully performed by Dr. Lasha-Giorgi Japaridze, Veterinarium's Chief Veterinarian and Head of the Surgical Department. Dr. Japaridze's expertise is underpinned by specialized training in "Advanced TPLO – The Next Level" in Bulgaria, supported by the Agricultural University of Georgia. Lasha-Giorgi holds a Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine and is a doctoral candidate at the Agricultural University of Georgia. Mari Kapanadze and Luka Ghlonti assisted during the surgical procedure.

Beyond surgical precision, the success of intricate procedures like TPLO heavily relies on meticulous anesthetic management. We want to highlight the exceptional care provided by our highly trained anesthesiologist, Natia Robakidze. Natia's extensive practical experience and specialized training in Poland, Estonia, and Italy ensure that each anesthetic protocol she develops is precisely tailored for maximum patient safety and comfort.
