Soil Lab
Heinz Fehr Laboratory of Ecological Agriculture and Nature Conservation
The Laboratory of Ecological Agriculture and Nature Conservation was established in 2006. The initiative was led by Professor Hartmut Fochtmann, the first professor of organic agriculture in Europe and President of the German Federal Agency for Nature Protection, along with Professor Angelica Ploeger from Kassel University. The laboratory was equipped with modern equipment and trained its staff according to international standards thanks to the funding from renowned German philanthropist Heinz Fehr. With extensive experience in international collaboration, scientific research, extension services, and education, the laboratory offers high-precision research services to farmers, individuals, and legal entities. It operates with ISO and FAO standards using the latest high-tech equipment.
The laboratory is engaged in state projects such as "Implement the Future," "Preferential Agricultural Loan," and "Produce in Georgia." It also conducts research on soils from leased agricultural plots according to schedules of 5, 10, and 15 years, as well as laboratory testing of soils related to changes in land plot categories.
Based on the results of laboratory research, the following are issued:
- Conclusions on soil fertility
- Recommendations for the cultivation of various agricultural crops
