Salome Badiashvili, a fifth-year student at the School of Veterinary Medicine at the Agricultural University of Georgia and a veterinary assistant at the university clinic Veterinarium, has been selected as a Global-Side Mentor for the HLAB 2025 Summer Program. This August, she will travel to Japan for two weeks to take part in the program.

HLAB 2025 brings together university students from around the world. to mentor Japanese high school students, share their experiences, and lead interactive seminars on a variety of topics.

HLAB is a liberal arts summer school that reimagines traditional education by promoting innovative, student-centered approaches to learning that reflect today’s diverse and rapidly changing global landscape.

The name “HLAB” reflects the program’s core values:

  • H stands for House, highlighting the importance of community and residential life.
  • LAB stands for Liberal Arts Beyond Borders, symbolizing an educational philosophy that transcends national, generational, and disciplinary boundaries.

As part of her role, Salome will lead a seminar on veterinary laboratory diagnostics, introducing Japanese high school students to the essential role of lab testing in modern veterinary medicine and its impact on animal health and clinical care.
