The Treatment Story of Bublika

12 December 2025

5-month-old mixed-breed Bublika was treated at Veterinarium for 6 days for parvoviral infection. He presented with the characteristic symptoms: intense vomiting, diarrhea, hematochezia, dehydration, loss of appetite, and lethargy. During the first days, he also had episodes of critically high fever.

Bublika’s treatment plan was developed by Veterinarium’s internist and ultrasonographer, Nutsa Besashvili. The patient received daily antiemetic and antihemorrhagic medications, infusion therapy, antibiotic therapy, and other necessary procedures.

The intensive treatment was successful, and Bublika made a full recovery.

In dogs, parvoviral infection is caused by Canine Parvovirus Type 2, a highly contagious viral disease that leads to acute gastrointestinal damage. Parvovirus is especially dangerous for puppies between 6 and 20 weeks of age. According to studies, mortality in untreated puppies can reach up to 91%. However, early and intensive therapy significantly increases the chances of recovery.

Parvovirus is preventable. Timely and regular vaccination is the most effective way to avoid this disease.
