Zurich Cementless Total Hip Replacement System Now at Veterinarium.
Along with KYON’s surgical instruments, the Zurich Cementless Total Hip Replacement implant system has arrived in Georgia. It is used for high-quality joint replacement procedures in animals.
Among existing implant systems, this one has gained widespread clinical adoption due to its innovative design, biocompatible materials, and its ability to achieve long-term osseointegration.
Because the femoral head prosthesis is made of ceramic (instead of metal), and the acetabular component uses polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and a carbon ring instead of polyethylene, combined with the aspherical geometry of the cup, implant wear is minimized and the need for revision surgery is virtually eliminated. The system is highly resistant to wear.
The photo shows Belly, a patient who underwent bilateral total hip replacement using KYON’s cementless implants in Italy, performed by one of the world’s leading orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Aldo Vezzoni, and is feeling excellent. Belly is also the first dog from Georgia to undergo this type of surgery. Soon, this will be possible in Georgia as well.
Dr. Lasha-Giorgi Japaridze, Head of the Surgical Department at Veterinarium, has already successfully completed two stages of KYON’s educational program. After completing the third and final stage, the system will be fully implemented in our clinic.
Once introduced, Veterinarium will be the only veterinary clinic in Georgia and the entire South Caucasus capable of performing Zurich Cementless Total Hip Replacement surgeries.
