Master’s Program in Construction Engineering Description

The objective of the Agricultural University of Georgia Master’s Program in Construction Engineering is to prepare graduates with both theoretical and practical knowledge in relevant engineering specializations and modern technologies. This preparation equips them to manage complex activities and work effectively in both public and private sectors. With a solid foundation of knowledge and skills, graduates will be adept at navigating a dynamically changing environment and will be capable of developing and implementing innovative ideas.

Master’s students will be knowledgeable in the following:

  • Modern materials and products used in construction.
  • Theoretical foundations necessary for the design and calculation of various structures, including metal, wood, stone, and reinforced concrete constructions.
  • Implementation of construction processes on-site.
  • Equipping buildings with water supply, drainage, heating, and ventilation systems.
  • Planning and independently conducting research.

Upon successful completion of the 2-year program, the graduate is awarded the qualification - Master of Construction Engineering.

Action-Based Learning

The Master's Program in Construction Engineering emphasizes practical studies. These studies are conducted using the learning-by-doing method, where students gain hands-on experience through individual tasks. Additionally, practical and laboratory classes are held in small groups, which in turn positively effects student learning outcomes.

Curriculum

The Master's Program in Construction Engineering consists of 122 credits, divided into the following modules:

  • General Engineering Module - this module includes subjects such as Research Methodology, Data Analysis, Mathematical Modelling, Modern Methods of Engineering Measurement and others.
  • Core Education in the Field of Study - this module includes fundamental subjects related to construction engineering, such as Construction Structures, Advanced Technical Mechanics, Modern Materials and Technologies, Foundation Design, Metal Structure Design, Reinforced Concrete Design, Wooden Structure Design, and others.
  • Elective Subjects - students can select courses from other programs based on their interests.

In addition to these modules, the program includes the preparation and defense of a master’s thesis.
