Mukhrani Base
The Mukhrani Testing Research Base, located in Mukhrani village, 40 km from Tbilisi, spans 165 hectares. This facility is utilized for both commercial and educational/scientific purposes. The base focuses on the production of various grain and leguminous crops for food, fodder, and seed production. The crops cultivated include: Georgian wheat - 17 hectares, maize "Ajameti Tetri" - 5 hectares, autumn and spring barley - 16 hectares, alfalfa - 32 hectares. Additionally, the Mukhrani Base is involved in the production of hybrid corn seeds.
The Collection of Genetic Resources of Plants is situated on 15 hectares of land within the Mukhrani Testing Research Base. This area is dedicated to the collection and regeneration of various perennial plants, as well as supporting the genetic resources bank. The collection features both Georgian and introduced varieties, including up to 290 unique Georgian grape varieties, up to 100 varieties of various perennial crops, up to 5 varieties of blackberries and strawberries, several hundred varieties of wheat, barley, corn, millet, and various vegetables, including garden vegetables and legumes. In addition, a modern vine nursery has been established at the Mukhrani base, occupying 15 hectares and equipped with a state-of-the-art drip irrigation system. As part of the project, a cold storage facility of 200 square meters and a stratification chamber of 200 square meters have been set up. The nursery is designed to produce 200,000 certified seedlings annually.
