Gastroscopy using the Vetina ES3

06 May 2026

As a result of gastroscopy procedures performed at Veterinarium Clinic, a tennis ball was removed from the stomach of Jema the Labrador, while pork ribs were retrieved from the stomach of Barney the Corgi.

At Veterinarium Clinic, gastroscopy is carried out using a modern flexible veterinary endoscopic system, Vetina ES3.

Gastroscopy is a minimally invasive endoscopic diagnostic procedure that allows for visual assessment of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. It is widely used for the identification and differentiation of various gastrointestinal tract disorders, including:

  • Erosive lesions
  • Inflammatory processes
  • Neoplastic formations
  • Presence of foreign bodies

The gastroscopic procedure is performed by Dr. Lasha-Giorgi Japaridze, Head Veterinarian at Veterinarium Clinic, who holds a Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Agricultural University of Georgia and is conducting his scientific research within the framework of the doctoral program at the same university.

The anesthesia process was carefully managed by Giorgi Loladze. At the clinic, anesthesia is administered using the Veta 5 Premium system, allowing for comprehensive patient monitoring, inhalational anesthesia delivery, and effective pulmonary ventilation via a controlled mechanical ventilation system.
